New Twitter account for Smart Growth Waterloo Region
Thanks for being a supporter of Smart Growth in Waterloo Region. The letters you have sent to our local and provincial leaders are making an impact. It has been wonderful to see the province agree to join with the Region of Waterloo on the Divisional Court appeal. This is an important and significant first step. Thank you for helping to make this happen.
Due to some technical difficulties, we’ve had to change our Smart Growth Waterloo Region Twitter account. You can now find us at @SmartGrowth_WR. Please follow this new account and join the conversation!
We’re sorry for the inconvenience this Twitter change may cause. We hope that you’ll help us to spread the word about our new Twitter handle and Waterloo’s Smart Growth plan.
Thanks,
Mike Boos

Open Letter to the Kitchener-Waterloo Community and Local & Provincial Government Regarding the Smart Growth Plan of Waterloo Region
We, local businesses in downtown Kitchener, are writing to voice strong support for the continuation of the Smart Growth Plan of Waterloo Region. The Ontario Municipal Board’s ruling against the Smart Growth Plan is highly concerning for us as we consider it a big step backward for the long-term health of our community, local businesses and the environment. In particular, we oppose the abandonment of the Smart Growth Plan for two major reasons:
Waterloo’s OMB case discussed in the Legislature
Legislative Assembly of Ontario, May 2 2013
Ms. Catherine Fife: The OMB recently overruled the region of Waterloo’s official plan and supported a sprawl development on 1,000 hectares of rural land. This ruling hurts local agricultural businesses and jobs, increases municipal infrastructure costs and undermines transit-oriented development.
It’s time to fix the Ontario Municipal Board
